Brick Barbecue & Concrete Countertop
A Smokin’ Hot Backyard Upgrade
A Palm Beach Island, FL back yard used to have a very unappealing bare concrete slab. The owner wanted to us to add some functionality to the space by using a material that could withstand the elements to create a barbecue enclosure.
It’s all in the details.
We used Old Chicago brick for this project, because of its durability and heat resistant qualities. On the floor area in front of the barbecue we set the bricks in a diagonal pattern. Then we set them straight next to the barbecue to help define the work area.
For the enclosure, we measured the grill and obtained specs for a smoker (to be purchased and installed later by the client). Once our design was planned, we built up the enclosure to perfectly fit the items. Finally, we poured a concrete countertop.
The homeowner couldn’t wait to try out his new grilling area. We have a feeling this back yard will smell delicious, and truth be told, we were just a little jealous.
